Our menu still boasts our original Greek specialties made with the same ingredients and recipes. In addition to our eloquent banquet room and tasteful business rooms, our new menu options will fit any event or catering needs that our customers might have.
We are also excited to offer a full bar with happy hour specials at our new location. By remaining open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, our customers can stop by for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, or late night meals.
Our staff is very excited about our new location. If you haven't met Mr. John, stop by to see him at lunch or dinner. Come visit us at our new restaurant, or contact us regarding your catering or event needs.
Our History
For a long time now, One's A Meal has been a vital part of Houston. It was originally called Brooks System Sandwiches, when it opened at 907 Rusk, in 1920. It was in several ways unique: the first all-night restaurant in town, and the first to prepare the food in front of the customer. The owner William Gibson was quite daring. Although he specialized in breakfast, he served his eggs only one way--scrambled. Customers soon began to crave Brooks System scrambled eggs and chili, which is a staple still today.
In 1930, at his second downtown location, he unveiled the double-decker sandwich; it became the "in" gathering place for late night socializing, the perfect way to top off a movie or a dance. On New Year's Eve, it was considered good luck to have breakfast at One's A Meal--and still is.
In 1998, the Servos Family bought the restaurant now known as One's a Meal, a two restaurants in one concept, and have been running it ever since. The Servos Family's involvement in the food business dates back many years. In 1970, Louis Servos joined the management team at James Coney Island, which was co-founded by his father-in-law the late Tom Papadakis, and helped expand the firm into 18 locations. During the 90's, Louis' three sons, grandsons of the Greek immigrant Papadakis, joined their father in the business. The Servos Family takes great pride in providing quality food and service and looks forward to seeing you again here, or at our other locations soon.
